How BES can provide electric car charger installation for your business
1. Initial consultation
We’ll discuss your EV requirements in more detail, covering everything from how many electric vehicle charge points you require to potential grants you may be eligible for. Our helpful consultation will tailor a charging solution that aligns perfectly with your business requirements.
2. Site survey
Once we’ve discussed initial steps, we will schedule a visit time to come and conduct a survey at your site. This will involve an electrical assessment and check if any civil engineering will be required prior to installation. We will also advise on the best hardware options for your site and answer any further queries.
3. EV Quotation
After we’ve got all the important information we need and have inspected your site, we can provide you with a full quotation for your EV charger installation. This will include the materials required for installation and quotes for hardware, that will be sent for you to review at your convenience.
4. Installation
We’re proud to offer a turnkey service. This begins with civil construction and groundworks, it involves our accredited specialists installing an electric cable, by burying it in the subterranean chambers and pipework. Followed by installing concrete plinths to mount the electric vehicle chargers, which are then backfilled and proceeded by cable ducting that is carefully re-laid.
Our expert team of electricians will then install all the relevant cables in the groundworks. Any existing connection to the charging point and electrical infrastructure will be terminated for inspection. This infrastructure will then be re-energised for further inspection and testing.
Once this is complete, our accredited team will finalise the installation of the charging points and kindly walk you through how the chargers operate, while being on-hand to answer any questions.
5. EV Servicing and maintenance
We offer complete servicing and maintenance as part of our EV charger installation service. Periodical inspections will help ensure your electric vehicle charging infrastructure is kept working efficiently, safe, and well-maintained, for your workplace and clients.

What type of electric vehicle chargers are available?

In the UK, there are currently 4 main types of EV chargers. They differ depending on the speed at which they can charge an electric vehicle. For example, this is how many kilowatts (kw) is required for each type of charger:
- Slow chargers: Require between 3kw – 7kw.
- Fast chargers: Require between 7kw to 22kw.
- Rapid chargers: Require between 25kw to 75kw.
- Ultra-rapid chargers: Require between 100kw to 350kw.
Is there any funding available for workplace EV charging?

Depending on eligibility criteria, there are a variety of funding options available to support commercial EV installation.
For example:
- EV Infrastructure Grant: Aimed towards small to medium-sized UK businesses, this grant offers up to 75% off the cost of installing workplace infrastructure.
- Workplace Charging Scheme: Targeted at businesses, charities, and public sector organisations to reduce installation costs of workplace EV charging stations.

Do you need planning permission to install an EV charger?

Planning permission may vary depending on site location. During our initial site survey, we can find out if you will require any planning permission for EV installation and take care of next steps.
Do I need to purchase my own EV Charge Point, or will you provide this for me?

We can provide an EV Charger for you, even if you require multiple units. Contact us for an initial EV consultation, where we can provide you with more information on electrical vehicle charging and arrange a site visit to help determine exactly what requirements you need.
Does an EV Charge Point installation require three-phase?

Whether your EV Charger Installations need a single phase or three-phase supply depends entirely on the infrastructure, capacity, and needs of the site.
For example, if you wanted a rapid charger to be installed, this can only be completed on sites with a three-phase supply. Occasionally, sites that only have a single-phase power outage can only have single phase chargers installed. All of this and more will be discussed during your site survey.

Can I use existing parking bays for EV Charge Point installation?

Most existing parking bays can be used by our EV Charging Point installers, we can provide a full consultation during a visit to your site if any additional engineering work is required.
Do I need DNO approval for an EV charger?

Typically, DNO approval isn’t required for EV ChargePoint installation, although this is dependent on the infrastructure of your site. During a survey of your site, we can determine whether you would need DNO approval and advise on next steps.
Do business EV chargers require a single or three-phase power supply?

This depends on various factors such as infrastructure, capacity and overall needs of your chosen EV charging installation site.
For example, rapid and ultra-rapid EV chargers require a three-phase supply. Whereas typically, sites that only have a single-phase power supply can only have single-phase chargers installed. We can inspect your site to find out what power supply you have during a site survey.

How can I maintain my electric vehicle charging stations?

We recommend that all EV Charge Points are tested annually for visual inspection and electric vehicle infrastructure. Although this is not currently required under EV legislation, it will ensure that your EV Charge Points are in line with Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR’s), adhering to BS: 7671 and the Electricity at Work Regulations Act (1989).
