What is LED Lighting?

Light emitting diode, or LED, is a lighting solution that is up to 90% more efficient than traditional incandescent light bulbs. When designed and installed correctly, LED light bulbs and LED strip lights will last longer and provide more versatile lighting in your setting.

LED lighting can work in almost any setting regardless of size or usage. Some of our specialist areas include schools, council buildings, hospitals, offices and warehouses. LED lighting for schools is part of a government incentive to make schools greener, meaning you could be eligible for a government grant.

Who we've partnered with...

Key benefits of LED Lighting Installation

Energy efficiency

LED lights consume much less energy than traditional incandescent or fluorescent lights. This can lead to significant savings on your energy bills.

Eco-friendly

LED lights produce very little heat, which means they don’t contribute to greenhouse gas emissions.

Longer life-span

You won't have to replace LEDs as often as traditional lights, which will save you money in the long run.

Government incentives

There are a number of business grants available for schools, hospitals, businesses, and more to help you become greener through the use of LEDs. Investing in industrial LED lighting solutions not only improves energy efficiency but also helps organisations take advantage of these grants while reducing long-term operational costs.

Frequently asked questions

What is the lifespan of LED lights?

The lifespan of LED lights varies depending on the quality of the light, the environment it is used in, and how often it is used. However, in general, LED lights can last for up to 50,000 hours. This is much longer than traditional incandescent or fluorescent lights, which typically last for only 1,000 to 2,000 hours.

What are the different types of LED lights?

There are many different types of LED lights available, each with its own unique properties and applications. Some of the most common types of LED lights include:

  • Incandescent: Incandescent LED lights are the most basic type of LED light. They work by passing electricity through a semiconductor material, which causes it to emit light. Incandescent LED lights are not as efficient as other types of LED lights, but they are relatively inexpensive.
  • CFL: Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) are a type of fluorescent light that is more efficient than incandescent lights. CFLs work by passing electricity through a gas, which causes it to emit light. CFLs are more expensive than incandescent lights, but they last longer and use less energy.
  • LED: Light-emitting diode (LED) lights are the most efficient type of light available. They work by emitting light when an electric current passes through them. LED lights are available in a wide variety of colours and brightness levels, and they can be used for a variety of applications.
  • SMD: Surface-mount device (SMD) LED lights are a type of LED light that is mounted on a surface. SMD LED lights are very small and efficient, and they are often used in electronic devices and appliances.
  • RGB: RGB LED lights are a type of LED light that can emit different colours of light. RGB LED lights are often used in decorative lighting and in applications where the colour of the light can be changed.

Who can install LED lights?

While anyone can install LED lights, for those planning to install multiple at their site, office, or workplace. At BES Group, we ensure LED Light Installation is in line with all the relevant legislation and safety practices that affect you.

What does LED stand for?

A Light Emitting Diode (LED) is an electrical light source that only allows an electrical current to flow in one direction. The way LEDs generate light is what makes them different to traditional lights as incandescent bulbs have to create heat to create light, LEDs do not need heat.

Can LED lights be dimmed?

Yes, with the correct bulbs, installation and settings you will be able to dim your LED lights if that is best for your space. Our expert engineers can discuss all variations with you and provide full assistance and training on how to use LED dimmers correctly once installed.

Will LEDs reduce my energy bill?

Yes, we estimate your business could save up to 80% on your energy bills by making the switch to LED. Up to 90% of the energy emitted from LED lighting is converted to light as opposed to heat, making them a greener option for the environment.

What government grants are available for LED lighting?
