Our ESG certifications and awards
ESGmark®
We were delighted to be awarded the prestigious ESGmark® certification in 2023. This is a symbol of trust and distinction, and we are proud to be part of the ESGmark® community.
Receiving this certification reinforces our commitment to making a positive difference to the environment, our customers, employees and communities. It also further reinforces our promise to help drive a fairer, more sustainable future.
UN Global Compact Network
As a proud member of the UN Global Compact Network, we work alongside other organisations that share our commitment to accelerating sustainability efforts along with ensuring our combined actions make an impact.
“The UN Global Compact Network UK is an independent not-for-profit organisation. Our aims are to promote charitable sustainable development, relieve poverty, preserve and protect the environment, and promote ethical standards and conduct within businesses and the private sector in the UK.”
SBTi
In 2022 we also joined thousands of companies defining their journey to becoming a net zero organisation by setting ‘science-based targets.’ Targets are considered ‘science-based’ if they are in line with what the latest climate science says is necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement – limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
During this process, we defined our commitments to reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions across BES Group. These were submitted to Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) for validation to help demonstrate solid sustainability commitments to regulators, consumers and investors.
We officially completed the final step of the SBTi verification process in 2024. By defining our journey to becoming a net zero organisation by setting ‘science-based targets’, BES Group has been added to the list of responsible businesses formalising their commitments to helping positively impact climate change.
Completing our materiality assessment
We have set ambitious objectives and targets aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's), the United Nations Global Compact and meeting our Net Zero approach through the Science Based Targets initiative. In doing this, we are building on our stakeholder engagement and materiality assessment and addressing the risk and growth opportunities identified across our Group.
Completing our ‘materiality assessment,’ has supported us in identifying and understanding the relative importance of specific ESG topics to our stakeholders and strategy, and with it we framed and aligned with 4 of the 17 SDG’s most closely support our mission, vision and strategy. We’re pleased to share that we will be prioritising 4 key themes as a business:
- SDG 5. Gender equality
- SDG 8. Decent work and economic growth
- SDG 12. Responsible consumption and production
- SDG 13. Climate action

In the ever-evolving landscape of business, success is no longer defined solely by financial metrics. Today, companies are held accountable for their impact on society and the environment, and a commitment to ESG (environmental, social, and governance) principles is no longer a nicety but a necessity.
Our investors understand this fundamental shift, and their unwavering dedication to ESG is evident in their diverse portfolio of businesses
