Ferrite Testing

Ensuring material integrity for duplex and super duplex materials

Ferrite testing is a non-destructive method used to ensure the integrity of duplex and super duplex materials that are exposed to extreme temperatures and mechanical stresses. Through evaluating ferrite content accurately, we can ensure that materials are durable, resistant to corrosion, and support crack prevention.

Analysing ferrite content for welding and piping products

Materials that have undergone heat treatment processes may experience a drop in ferrite levels below certain percentages. This can indicate incorrect heat treatment or the presence of third phases in the material, which can be detrimental to the in-service life of duplex and super duplex materials.

Achieving the right balance of ferrite content helps industries such as construction, automotive, and aerospace enhance the longevity and performance of their products, which improves safety, reliability, and minimises the need for costly replacements and repairs.

Our testing methods ensure that ferrite readings are accurate and truly representative of the samples.

Proper surface preparation is crucial for result accuracy; the surface must be free from contaminants and be positioned reasonably flat to allow good contact.

We conduct Ferrite Testing on welding and piping products using our portable, handheld Fischer Feritscope MP30E-S ferrite testers.

Our technicians, who are dual-qualified in PCN/ASNT, are available throughout the UK to conduct Ferrite Testing on-site, providing instant results and computerized reports at the time of the test. We offer 24/7 availability, ensuring that our services are accessible whenever needed.

Customer

Global Technical Services Manager

The industry requires competence to be demonstrated, typically through UKAS accreditation, which is a prerequisite for many major clients. BES is type A accredited, which is preferred, they can provide highly objective opinions.

Customer

Senior Project Manager

The BES inspectors are way more technically competent and diligent compared to other providers. I previously used Allianz, and BES definitely stands out due to their strong technical competence and strong back office support.
