We are raising the flag – showing our support for the UK’s SDG flag campaign

We are raising the flag today in celebration of everything we’re doing across the BES Group to support the United Nations Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).

We are excited to be taking part in the UK’s SDG flag campaign to show our commitment to the Global Goals. These all-important goals are aimed at tackling major global challenges such as climate change, gender inequality and poverty and it’s important to us across the BES Group that we’re helping make a difference.

We are proud of our developing ESG strategy.  We set out ambitious objectives and targets aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the United Nations Global Compact and meeting our Net Zero approach through the Science Based Targets initiative, building on our stakeholder engagement and materiality assessment, addressing the risk and growth opportunities identified across our Group.

By completing our ‘materiality assessment,’ it supported us to identify and understand the relative importance of specific ESG topics to our stakeholders and strategy, we framed and aligned with 4 of the 17 SDG’s most closely support our mission, vision and strategy.  We’re pleased to share that we will be prioritising 4 key themes as a business:

  • SDG 5. Gender equality
  • SDG 8. Decent work and economic growth
  • SDG 12. Responsible consumption and production
  • SDG 13. Climate action

 

A great start for the BES Group

Raising the flag across a number of our sites not only shows our commitment to these Global Goals, but also reinforces the importance of what we’re doing across our Group. We have already achieved some exciting milestones, building momentum on various activities, including progressing the following:

  • Commitment to green energy sources with all our offices and other locations having already commenced the migration
  • Securing accreditation as a Real Living Wage employer
  • Starting in-depth activity to ensure we’re working with a responsible end-to-end supply chain
  • Launching our volunteering scheme
  • Introducing our fundraising and community support programme
  • Aligning our company with some of the most prestigious ESG frameworks
  • Developing our ESG Strategy Report

ESG is a priority across everything we do at the BES Group and we look forward to keeping you updated on our progress.
