Project overview
BES Group and MHI Vestas have been working together since 2018 to provide statutory inspection services for MHI Vestas’ offshore wind turbines.
The partnership ensures that MHI Vestas’ turbines are safe and legally compliant, while also maximising generation uptime. BES Group provides a full scope of inspection services, including supplementary non-destructive testing for pressure components at the ten-year anniversary. This work is self-delivered by the BES Group Inspection and NDT teams, and the inspection reports are generated quickly and provide easy access to all stakeholders.
The challenge

With turbines spread across offshore locations all over the UK and Europe, the partnership with BES Group called for the skills of our specialist Engineer Surveyors.
The solution
MHI Vestas Offshore Wind UK ltd work closely with British Engineering to stay safe and legally compliant at all times.
Having worked together since 2018, we have developed an effective statutory inspection regime which includes all turbine types MHI Vestas produce and takes account of specific Written Schemes of examination for the turbines for both Pressure and Lifting assets. We ensure a legally compliant and safe working environment while supporting MHI Vestas in maximising the turbines generation uptime.
The results
We have provided the full scope of inspection services here, alongside supplementary non-destructive test for pressure components at the ten-year anniversary of the pressure equipment, negating the requirement for replacement or removal for hydraulic test.
All alternatives are expensive, difficult to perform offshore and intrusive to site operations and generation.
This work is self-delivered by the BES Group Inspection and NDT teams. We ensure the inspection reports are generated quickly and give easy access at both site and management levels and their end customers to ensure clear visibility of the equipment status.
