Project Overview
Trug buckets are a versatile tool used across a variety of industries, ranging from construction and commercial purposes, to domestic applications such as gardening and home storage. Understanding their limitations is crucial to prevent damage from overloading.
BES Group (formerly Rotech Laboratories), has worked with Rainbow Trugs, a British manufacturer of trug buckets, known for its high-quality, flexible containers and accessories, to provide quality assurance for their trug products.

The Challenge
Rainbow Trugs has spent a considerable amount of time designing their product, as they wanted to make a trug bucket that was more durable and to a higher standard than similar products already on the market.
Recognising the common issue of handle failures in similar products, they wanted to ensure their product had been designed with the right material, that could handle more weight than existing products, and demonstrate their commitment to quality for their customers.

The Solution
To achieve their quality and design goals, Rainbow Trugs contacted BES Group to conduct a series of load tests on their trug buckets. These tests would be critical in determining the maximum loads their product could withstand before failure.
We received a variety of trug buckets in different shapes and sizes to give a comprehensive analysis of their product range. Our mechanical team carried out a series of load tests to determine ultimate failure.

The Result
The capacities varied across sizes, with the 2.2 litre trug supporting up to 64.5kg, the 14 litre trug up to 450.0kg, the 25 litre trug up to 344.6kg, the 30 litre trug up to 348.8kg, and the 45 litre trug impressively holding up to 453.8kg before failure.
These outcomes not only validated the design and quality assurance efforts of Rainbow Trugs but also provided valuable insights into the product’s capabilities, ensuring customer satisfaction through reliable and durable trug buckets suitable for a wide range of uses.
