Our partnership with Galloper Wind Farm
Project overview
With 56 wind turbines providing enough energy to power hundreds of thousands of homes around Britain, helping keep Galloper wind farm moving is important to us.
Located off the coast of Suffolk, the impressive operation has extensive maintenance needs and at the BES Group, we’re delighted to be doing our bit. When it comes to engineering inspections, we’ve got it covered. We work alongside the Galloper team to make sure they get the most thorough inspections from the very best Engineer Surveyors, helping keep their people safe and equipment productive at all times.
The challenge
When it comes to wind farms, keeping turbines producing is absolutely key. And this is true at Galloper wind farm, where minimising downtime is an ongoing focus.
With a whole host of inspection needs, the operations team were keen to keep safety their number one priority while causing as little disruption as possible, right from the very beginning.
Working around the sites existing schedule whilst taking into account the tricky location, and the need for our team to travel ‘offshore’ to complete their inspections, were considerations from the start of our partnership. And that’s without factoring in the ever-changing weather conditions that could potentially impact our ability to travel to the wind farm!
The solution
The whole reason we exist is to keep people from harm’s way and that will never change.
Whether it’s our customers or our people, they come before everything else. We work alongside the Galloper team to make sure we help manage their risk effectively, with no compromise, ever.
Our team of central planners work with the relevant onsite team to plan inspections in line with scheduled site downtime. Using the most sophisticated technology, we plan around the needs of our customer, grouping together examinations and providing a long-range view of their statutory requirements where we can.
The results
With a dedicated team of ‘offshore’ Engineer Surveyors, we make sure Galloper wind farm inspections are carried out by the most skilled and experienced people.
They travel to the site on a daily basis whilst carrying out inspections, working around the challenges that accompany offshore work.
All this is backed up by regular contact with a dedicated Key Account Manager and direct access to the relevant Territory Manager, who has responsibility for the Engineer Surveyors working at this site.
