We’re delighted and excited to share that we are now a proud member of the UN Global Compact Network.
“The UN Global Compact Network UK is an independent not-for-profit organisation. Our aims are to promote charitable sustainable development, relieve poverty, preserve and protect the environment, and promote ethical standards and conduct within businesses and the private sector in the UK.”
This is an important step and one that will support the BES Group as we work towards our overall ESG objectives, particularly our approach to sustainability. As a member of the UN Global Compact Network, we will work alongside other organisations that share our commitment to accelerating sustainability efforts along with ensuring our combined actions make an impact.
ESGmark®
The BES Group is proud to announce that we have been awarded the prestigious ESGmark® certification. ESGmark® is a symbol of trust and distinction and a community we are thrilled to be part of.
This is awarded to organisations “which prove they are committed to making a positive difference to the environment, their customers, employees and communities.” This further reinforces our guarantee to helping drive a fairer, more sustainable future and we’re delighted to have secured this.
SBTi
Finally, we have also joined thousands of companies defining their journey to becoming a net zero organisation by setting ‘science-based targets.’ Targets are considered ‘science-based’ if they are in line with what the latest climate science says is necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement – limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
During this process, we define our commitments to reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions across the BES Group. These are submitted to and validated by Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). Doing this has a number of benefits including helping demonstrate solid sustainability commitments to regulators, consumers and investors.
An ongoing focus on ESG is vital to the future of the BES Group and we’re extremely proud to be working with these organisations to both reinforce and achieve our commitments. Not only will this help ensure we get support and guidance from external experts, but it will give us the opportunity to share our journey with other organisations working towards their own ESG goals. We look forward to sharing more about our ESG commitments through 2023 and beyond.
